The Croatian Children’s Drama Festival „Marulić“ is going to be held for the first time in Split on 14 -17 April, 2008.
The need to establish such a festival has been prompted by lack of drama plays for children, which is the burning problem for many children's theatres in Croatia and abroad, too.
The main objective of the Festival is to motivate playwrights to write for the children's theatre. Along with this intention, the Best Children's and Puppet Theatre Play Contest will be introduced at the Festival. The Contest will be opened until the beginning of the 2009 „Marulić“when the winners of the Contest will be declared.
The Children’s Drama Festival „Marulić“ will be organized as a part of the special theater program held traditionally in Split every April in honor of Marko Marulić, who is also called „the father of the Croatian literature”.
The Festival selector, Mrs. Dubravka Lampalov, will choose the plays to be performed in the Festival's competition.
At the closing ceremony the performances recognized as the best ones by the Festival’s Jury will be awarded prizes in the following categories:
· Best original play award
· Best dramatization award
· Best performance award
· Best directing award
· Best actress award
· Best actor award
· Best performance visual identity award (setting design, costumes, puppets, light design).
